United Vision for Idaho, The Visual Arts Collective, The Linen Building and The Audio Lab hosted a series of events throughout Boise for the first “Community Progressive”. This marked the release of United Vision for Idaho's cd, Progressive Voices, a compilation of Idaho artists who have written songs in the spirit of social, economic and environmental justice and share a vision for Idaho and dedicated to making a difference in their community. You can find the CD on UVI's website.
This was an all day event in downtown Boise - I donated my time and music from 3:30 - 5pm.
It was great to participate in Boise's first Community Progressive! Thanks to Adrienne at United Vision of Idaho and Steve Fulton of Audio Labs for including me. I played a set with New Ridge Bass Player, Wes Steele for this event as well as a small solo set. Also, my old friend Ken Kolman (of Beltane band) sat in with us on a few songs! Thanks also to Beltane for sharing their sound system with us! It was wonderful!

Invited by Adrienne of United Vision of Idaho - it was great to meet her finally and her partner Alex! They were both very generous and helpful! It was fun playing at a venue with a sound system although I wasn't really excited about the smoke... but other than that I am very grateful for the opportunity.
Met Ken Miller of Snake River Alliance and enjoyed his informative talk on nuclear reactors and keeping them out of Idaho and the recent nuclear activity in Japan. He emphasized the importance of asking questions and protecting Idahoans from outside opportunists who seem to think we are easy prey.
Thanks to my bandmates Wes Steele and Wendy Matson for coming and hanging with me!
Wine tasting and free appetizers from 4-8 pm! I'll be playing my music from 5-7pm.

It was great to be playing live again after 3 months off! Fun to meet Marsha and Phil the venue owners who are so kind and generous. Erica said there weren't as many vendors since it was January (ie. all the holiday shopping was done in Dec and ppl are soooo burned out - totally can relate!) so there was room for the stage that was set up for the event the night before. So, Wendy played her music on the stage from 10 am to 12:30 and I played my music from 12:30 to 3pm. Really nice day, met some nice ppl (a guy in a woolen scarf with facial hair frm Seattle who took my Chicken Rosemary Potatoe Bean Soup recipe/lyric card) and old acquaintences (Sue from years ago - what a pleasure to see you again!) and Judy and her daughter my good friend who shares my birthday. sigh. good day. Thank you Linen Building.

Here's what the Idaho Food Bank says about Empty Bowls: "On the Friday after Thanksgiving, The Idaho Foodbank hosts its annual Empty Bowls event in downtown Boise on the Grove Plaza.
Throughout the year, we collect handcrafted and handpainted bowls from professional and amateur artisans, students, and studios. The event gives you the opportunity to select a unique bowl from these thousands of options, and then enjoy a hot bowl of soup, generously donated by several of our finest local restaurants. While guests enjoy their meal, we encourage them to remember that not all of our Idaho neighbors are able to meet this basic need and their financial support at the event helps us to provide free, emergency food to those in need."

Woman Of Steel Gallery is a world unto its own. You have to see it to believe it!! Eclectic Urban with the Softness of Feminine Mystique, metal sculpture has never been more inviting and whimsical. The Gallery owner, Irene Deely, is an artistic genius at metal sculpture, yet she is friendly and approachable with layers of depth and beauty.
Stop in and say hi and take a good look around!
